The target is 336-340HP and 400+ FT of torque. Tune mods include a Stage 2 remap, full Miltek exhaust (decat system), cold air intake, and upgraded blow off valve… Other work includes a full set of mags and tyres, carbon rear lip and mirrors. This car will be a huge amount of fun!!
Lets get started!!!
Above and below showing the difference in the intake systems
There is a turbo up in there somewhere!!!!
New system in, tailpipes look amazing, much larger than the standard.
Old verse new, catalytic converter delete, and larger diameter outlet
Noisy chain, stretched chain, noisy start up rattles.
Continuing to build on our service tool collection, just picked up this cam locking tool for N12 and N14 Bmw/mini engines and put it straight to use today.
Stretched timing chain on these models seem to have surfaced as a common concern. Todays car the chain had stretched to the point the timing had jumped resulting in a heavy reduction in power and the check engine light coming on. Others we’ve done have a heavy rattle on start up. All have exhibited problems with less than 100,000km’s on the clock.
Above and below showing the cam locking tool in place to allow the chain and gears to be removed without the cams moving/ not seen is the crankshaft is also locked in place with a pin.
So weve been waiting a while for these to arrive from the UK, hold ups with earthquakes and flooding, but here they are at last. Some work to be done for compliance and because we want to…. Brakes, servicing, GPS and speedo conversions, and detailing…
Here she is..
The wagon was a day late, relief to see it drive into the workshop…
A simple change to get the digital read out into KM’s..
Meyle Brake discs going on, great German brand parts for our German cars…
Oil and oil filter going in with some MB rated LiquiMoly oil. New air filter too.
Tints had to come off for compliance, still left with a nice factory tint… Rhino Racks and Rhino roofbox gone on….
Above, All road legal now so are putting wagon to good use…, getting a chauffeur drive on Xmas day (Thanks to my brother turning up at the hotel in a suit!!!).
We gave the wagon a run for Xmas, Impressive fuel economy for a big car, fully loaded with bags, 4 adults, roof racks and roof box, and we managed 6Litres/100kms. 901kms was under $65 in Diesel. Didn’t push it but also wasn’t doing an economy run so very pleased with it.
We have found the need to start stocking oil filters for some more of the main stream vehicles that are coming through, and in many cases we can offer genuine filters if requested.
Some genuine BMW filters now part of our usual stock on site.
Chasing some poor results on this V6 engine from the compression test and the cylinder leak down test. Glad to have found several valves not seating nice., While this ones being worked on in the machine shop we can start getting the engine out of an RS4 that having camshaft issues.
We are huge advocates for mechanical breakdown insurance, and this week has highlighted the importance., we have four big engine jobs queued at the moment, all eligible for a warranty policy, only two have…
These pics are of a GTI Golf that’s travelled less than 120,000kms. Presented to us for the first time with an engine light on and a light tapping from the engine. This is a very common fault of a Mk V GTi. Unfortunately someone has replaced the fuel pump (Tappet) plunger on this one but the damage was already done.. The unsuspecting new owner has picked up an expensive fix, requiring a new camshaft, fuel pump and associated parts to get things up and running again.
Other jobs on the go include failed cams on an RS4, Nil compression on a V6 A4 Audi, and another MK V Gti with Nil oil pressure at idle, maybe some future blogging to happen here once we open them up…..
New camshaft on the right, end lobes nearly completely gone on the Left camshaft
Nice MK IV R32 in today getting the Haldex filter and oil changed.
More and more enquiry coming through re servicing the Haldex and the DSG Gearbox’s in Audis and VW’s.
Questions like can we do it? Well of course we can!!
More and more enquiry to service the Haldex so here’s the tool for the job to make it a bit easier for the techs….
Air filters and pollen filter(Cabin filter) going in today. Very important to have clean air for your engine as well as for your passengers…
Audi Goodies, hard to find parts for an RS2. Not in the usual catalogue for this prototype Audi.
Cam belt kits, water pumps and crank pulley gears and bolts
