So whose been paying attention?!

April 2018 saw us free of our previous licence we had operated for 5 years, which in turn has enabled us to re-brand.

A few other changes for us revolve around parts supply, more specifically Jaguar LandRover parts.  We now have had the flood gates open and are spoilt for choice as to where and how we purchase our parts for these brands.  We do feel that ultimately this will mean better service to our customers as we can shop around if parts arent available on the first try, and there are a number of workshops and parts departments for us to try, who are willing to offer us great rates that we can pass on….

We have also had overseas interest with regards to parts supply and in the short term we are testing the waters here, watch this space.

 

Range Rover compressor hot off the plane!!

Golf Gt to be part of the Wellington European fleet.

This came through needing some repairs and the customer had already replaced with a new car. so we decided we might take it on and retire one of the three BMW’s that have been servicing Wellington customers for over 4 1/2 years.  Very tidy Golf GT done super low KM’s. Will be TOY005 on the fleet, looking forward to having it running around…

It does have a leaking water-pump, so first job is water-pump and cam-belt, update the service, EGR valve needed and a saggy roof liner to be repaired.

We bought plates along time ago so time to print ‘TOY005’ for this one, MK5 and 005, was meant to be.

Some obvious work is the headlights have gone all cloudy.  We get our friend Chris in from Final Touch to work his magic on these ,gets a great outcome and a great warranty as well…

How’s that comparison?!  Money well spent

 

Head line ris a bit tired too, so that’s come out for some new fabric…

Above, failed roof liner, below, re-covered and ready to go in….

Fixed the failed water pump that was pouring water out, just to find a very minor leak at the radiator..(  New radiator going in/ car is service position.

Audi A6 engine swap

Audi in this week getting an engine transplant.

Including a cambelt and waterpump, front and rear seals etc, few hours work there……

Replacement motor below is prepped, all new bits are on, ready to swap over….

Mechatronic VW Transmission repairs

Towed in with no drive, diagnosed with a failed Mechatronic unit in the transmission.  Customer very happy to have a mechanical Warranty as these parts are complex and don’t come cheap.  Our supplier sent this out pre-programmed.  Still required the use of our Ross-Tech to do a relearn and set adaptations etc.

Scan Tool from Choice and Solutions

Another little scan tool for the office, hopefully will come in handy with some of the less mainstream cars, service resets etc.

Stage 2 Tune, Mk 7 Golf

The target is 336-340HP and 400+ FT of torque.  Tune mods include a Stage 2 remap, full Miltek exhaust (decat system), cold air intake, and upgraded blow off valve…  Other work includes a full set of mags and tyres, carbon rear lip and mirrors. This car will be a huge amount of fun!!

Wellington European New-Toys, Ross-Tech VAGCOM scan tool

Our latest tool for 2017 is the Ross-Tech VW/Audi Diagnostic

VCDS will perform most of the functions of the expensive electronic diagnostic tools available only to official dealers. In the past, these dealership-only tools have prevented owners, and many small independent repair shops from performing some fundamental tasks, such as diagnosing problems, diesel ignition timing, modification of convenience options such as automatic door unlocking, coding a replacement Electronic Control Unit (ECU) or key to the vehicle, and monitoring of many vehicle sensors for diagnosing problems. Unlike generic scan tools (OBD II or EOBD), VCDS uses the more in-depth Volkswagen Group-specific manufacturer protocol commands,  which allows the user to access all diagnostic capable vehicle systems — even in vehicles which are not covered by generic OBD-II/EOBD

VCDS is also capable of interfacing vehicles which use the generic OBD-II/EOBD protocols. However, the OBD-II and EOBD standards only allow for limited diagnostics, and no adjustments to any of the ECUs.

 

So our new Ross Tech tool (wireless laptop based) has been added to our growing number of Scan Tools.

We have an ‘Auto diagnos’, an English based tool, handy on our large number of P38 Range Rover customers

‘Autel’, A great all round tool for British, European and Japanese vehicles, tablet based wireless control

Autologic, often considered to be the Ferrari of scan tools, ours is loaded with the mainstream British and Euro brands, good for diagnostics, activations, coding etc

My techs also have of their own, a ‘Launch’ and a ‘snap-on’.
